This is not exactly breaking news but I finally got Covid-19 after being free of it since it was first detected two years ago.
Not sure how I got infected, but my family so far is negative despite doing test numerous times, on different days.
Since I was detected as positive, I have isolated myself immediately from the household. I’m currently camped out in my own work room until I am well.
Updating MySejahtera
As a Malaysian, I had to report of my condition, which I did, through MySejahtera.
When I initially wanted to make the report, the app was down, so I had to wait a few hours to do so. When I finally did, Â I was given a House Isolation Order (HIO) as you can see below.
Technically having my MySejahtera turn red means I am not able to enter premises.
Also, I was given an SMS to update my close contacts which I did.
I was also asked to report my condition twice every day through the MySejahtera App.
Symptoms
To be honest, I never thought I would get Covid-19 given that I use my mask diligently and properly.
The mask has helped me stay sick-free for the past two years, and I’m proud of it, and intend to keep wearing a mask even when Covid-19 is less prominent.
That said, I believe I was infected when I didn’t use a mask.
Anyway, according to the Ministry of Health’s list, I am categorized as Covid 2a (1), which means I am infected and symptomatic with light symptoms.
So far, I have the following symptoms:
- Headache
- Running nose (flu)
- Cough
- Muscle ache
I’m recording an oxygen concentration level of above 95% so far when I measure it using my smartwatch, my GTR 2e. I’ve bought an oximeter, but it’s still stuck in KL.
I think it will only arrive after I’m released from quarantine.
Anyway, aside from the body ache, this feeling is nothing like when I got dengue which was by far much worst.
I believe I can still work, but it’s very uncomfortable with my nose constantly running, and sneezing. The cough is also no help, and the body aches are really not welcomed.
Medication for Covid-19
So what am I taking to treat the symptoms?
Currently, these are the medications I am taking to treat the symptoms:
- Paracetamol (for headaches)
- Difflam Anti-inflammatory lozenges (for the sore throat)
- Chlorpheniramine Maleate (for flu)
- Cough syrup (for the cough)
- Vitamin C
- Cord-liver oil
- Yoko yoko (for the body ache)
My wife also brewed some home made lemon juice to speed up my recovery.
Looking to recover
I would like to assume that vaccination had helped me a lot in making my Covid-19 experience so far less dangerous than it is supposed to be.
It is never fun to be sick, so I am looking forward to being healthy again.
I do hope this wave of Covid-19 will pass and things will return back to how it was pre-Covid.
Anyway, I hope everyone will stay safe and be responsible if you have contracted Covid – 19.
