Last week, I had the liberty of going outstation on a working trip to Limbang, Sarawak for the Pesta PSKPP Sarawak. To be honest, I felt Limbang is rather unfortunate that it is practically sandwiched by Brunei, hence making it difficult to for anyone to reach, but I guess that makes it special.
The journey was a long 15 hours bus ride and another four buses from Kuching were our escorts through the journey. The journey took about started off at 7AM, with brief stops along the way as we passed major towns in Sarawak namely Serian, Layar, Sibu, Bintulu and finally Miri.
My Scrabble team was the biggest passengers in our bus, but there was enough room for everyone to sit down comfortably. There wasn’t much to say bout the journey except that it was still tiring upon reaching our stop for the day at Kolej Tun Abang Haji Bujang, Miri.
I think it’s also worth mentioning that the stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway from Sibu to Bintulu was horrible, and that the Bintulu-Miri coastal road was equally bad. I could hardly sleep as I found myself being thrown mid-air in the bus. The experience made me wonder if there is any effort from those in charge (Ministers in particular), to improve the road conditions because both roads are considered ‘highways’ and I got a stiff neck, and and aching butt after riding on it.
Anyway, we arrived at Kolej Tun Abang Haji Bujang a bit over 10PM, and the team wasted no time in opening their Scrabble boards. This, I must say is commitment.
Will post up what happened the next day soon…
