Recently I bought the Dong Cheng Rotary Hammer Drill and after using it for about two months to do home improvement works, this is my personal review.
Prior to this, I was using the Black and Decker drill which had served it’s purpose for almost 10 years.
However, since I have more constuction work to do lately with the new RumahPalingSijo having quite a number of repairs, I thought it’s a good time to ‘upgrade’.
Why I bought the Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Power Drill
Upgrade aside, the reason why I bought the Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Power Drill is largely because I got fed-up of pulling wires when doing work.
Cordless power tools are pretty affordable these days and they make a lot of sense to get as they are more portable.

Aside from that, I also noticed there are so many fake power tools in the online market, especially from China.
This prompted me to think, “Instead of probably getting a knockoff of a popular brand, why not just get a proper Chinese brand which has a higher chance of being original.”
Getting a proper Chinese brand is not only cheaper but it allows me to obtain one that is original as its unlikely for China to copy a China product; at least that is what I think.
Dong Cheng and its subsidary brand, DCA, was top in my list especially after a few friends working in construction said something similar to “My Indonesian workers prefer Dong Cheng as its powerful.”
That sealed the deal to me.
Just to clarify, my initial purchase was supposed to be the Dong Ching Brushless Rotary Hammer Drill with the code DCZ04-24Z, but I didn’t check my online order properly and ended up buying the DCZC22Z model instead.
The difference comes in the weight, the size, the impact energy and the wood drill bit it can support with the one I got being lighter, but had less power (2.1J) and smaller diameter for a wood drill bit.
Advantages of the Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Power Drill
This is not my first time buying a drill. I have bought a few which included brands like Black and Decker and Bosch.
I had also used Makita before as it is the brand supplied to my school.
However in terms of a rotary hammer drill, this is my second time using such drill with Bosch’s Corded Hammer Drill being the first.
Well, it is a given that the Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Power Drill is easier to use and carry around due to it being cordless.
But what surprised me most is how equally powerful it is in comparison to the Bosch corded hammer drill. I’m guessing this is due to the brushless motor which gives out 2.1J of impact energy and up to 4,500.min rated impact frequency.
Drilling and breaking concrete was very easy and thanks to the SDS chunck, pulling out or installing the drill bit was easy as well. You can see me using this drill to break concrete HERE.
In terms of handling, it was also easy. At 2.0kg, the drill isn’t as heavy as I expected, allowing me to bring it up and down the stairs with ease, including using one hand to drill holes.
It also sounds great too!
Breaking concrete uses more battery and an hour of concrete breaking will drain the power quite fast.
For drilling and normal impact drilling, it can last weeks with casual use like mine. I can’t remember the last time I charged the battery and have drilled so many holes in the past few months.
Problems of the Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Power Drill
What wasn’t so great about this Dong Cheng Rotary Power Hammer drill was the position of the drill switch.
It is located behind the Adjustable Drill Stop which is connected to the Side Handle making it difficult to switch drill modes. I had to turn the Side Handle or adjust the Adjustable Drill Stop in order to make the drill mode switch.
In addition to that, the mode lever or switch to allows such change is also quite difficult to opperate. It requires me to press a small button on the switch first before I can make the mode switch.
Another issue I had with the drill is the battery charging time; which takes a couple of hours. Fast charging is also still long for an impatient person like myself.
Other than that, there’s not much to complaint about.
Where to buy
I bought my Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Power Drill online because even with delivery, it was cheaper than getting it in a brick and mortar shop.
It was priced at RM820 with two batteries, a case and a charging block. I would advice you to get it as a package because its cheaper. The battery can be used to power other Dong Cheng power tools which you can get individually.

Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Hammer Drill review conclusion
Personally I am very satisfied with the Cordless Dong Cheng Rotary Power Drill I bought.
It is powerful enough for the task I do, and it is portable.
My only issue regarding this drill is the price and the mode selector, but compared to other major brands, it is still cheaper and the difficulty in selecting the drill mode is more of an inconvenience which isn’t a deal breaker to me.
