Travelling to Thailand: The Lapa Hotel Hua Hin review

The Lapa Hotel Hua Hin is a boutique hotel located at the fringes of central Hua Hin.

It isn’t a massive hotel but that’s part of its charm.

We stayed here after scouting for possible hotels stays on HotelsCombined, and finally obtained a good rate for five nights when we booked with Booking.com.

WHY STAY AT THE LAPA HOTEL HUA HIN?

I can tell you I love the Lapa Hotel Hua Hin for many reasons, but to make it more prominent, I’ve listed these reasons below.

# 1: NEAR BLUPORT MALL

One of the biggest advantages of the Lapa Hotel Hua Hin would be its location. It is nearby the BluPort Hua Hin Mall, which is an amazing mall by a lot of standards. The mall has a clean and large food court which is great for lunch and dinner. It also has a cinema, departmental store and a supermarket. I will blog about this more in more detail later on, so do come back.

#2: GREAT STAFF

The staff at the Lapa Hotel Hua Hin had been amazing throughout our stay. They were friendly and always helped in any way they could, making us feel very much at home. They house cleaning ladies were also equally polite and they worked fast without sacrificing their work quality. The only downside is their limited English making communication a bit hard at times.

#3: AMAZING POOL

We really had a lot of fun at the swimming pool, and my daughter truly enjoyed it. The pool had a section with sand where my daughter could build sand castles. There was two pools, one for adults and one for children.  The adult pool also had a shallow area which was also suitable for kids. The fact there wasn’t many people using the pool meant we had it practically to ourselves daily.

#4: LARGE CLEAN ROOMS

We booked the superior rooms at The Lapa Hotel Hua Hin and the rooms were huge. Each room had a tub, and massive king sized bed. It came with a security safe, wooden cabinets, LCD TVs and separate showers. For a superior room, it was indeed impressive to say the least. Aside from that, the house cleaning service was efficient and they cleaned up very well.  Complimentary drinking water and toiletries (including toothbrushes) were provided daily. There is also connecting rooms for families like the ones we had.

#5: FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE

Hua Hin’s attractions are far apart so there is a definite need for transportation to go around. The Lapa Hotel Hua Hin accommodated this by providing free shuttle service to major tourist spots like the Tamarind Weekend Market, the Cicada Market, the Hua Hin Night market and more.  All you need to do is book the shuttle at the concierge, and come down 15 minutes before the ride.

#6: NEAR THE BEACH

You can’t see the beach from the hotel, but it is just a walking distance.  If you intend to go to the beach, grab a pool towel from the main desk and walk to the nearest path that heads to the beach.  The Hua Hin beach is very relaxing and the sand is soft.

Despite all the positives, there was two things I really didn’t like at the Lapa Hotel Hua Hin.

The first was the breakfast buffet. While the selections were tasty, the options were largely limited. During our five day stay, they hardly changed the menu options.

Another thing I didn’t really like was the Wi-Fi strength. Despite the many internet points, some couldn’t be used at times. This however had improved a couple of days before we checked-out.  My speed test showed that you could get around 5-10Mbps on the hotel network.

WHERE IS THE LAPA HOTEL HUA HIN

Due to massive trees surrounding the hotel, the Lapa Hotel Hua Hin isn’t exactly visible from the main road.  This is despite the fact that the hotel is actually just a few steps from the main road of Hua Hin.

That said, do follow the map below to guide you to the hotel.

HOW TO GET TO THE LAPA HOTEL HUA HIN?

If you are travelling in-bound by air to Bangkok you will need to charter a ride from the airport (airport transfer). The hotel can arrange for your airport transfer but the rates are slightly higher than usual.

Tip: Finding a hotel transfer at Suvarnabhumi Airport can be tricky, so if you did book one in advance, walk from one end to another at the arrival lounge to locate your booking.  Not all drivers hold up your name with pride.

The ride from Bangkok to Hua Hin takes about 3 hours, and it can go to 4 hours if the traffic congestion in Bangkok worsens.

Tip: Hua Hin Cab is a good option if you want to save and they have better options when it comes to they type of rides you want to use. I only knew about this option after I reached Hua Hin but I am suggesting you try them out given their very positive ratings on TripAdvisor.

Personally however, I would avoid taking the Toyota Commuter.  I found the Toyota Commuter to be rather unpleasant for long distance travel. We were given the Toyota Commuter during our transfer to and from Hua Hin, and it was not pleasant at all. I could hardly sleep as the roads were bumpy and the car seats were hard.

TIP: GET BEST RATES AT LAPA HOTEL HUA HIN

If you are interested to stay in the The Lapa Hotel Hua Hin, I’d recommend you to scout for rates using HotelsCombined.

They compare hotel room rates from several travel websites, allowing you to book your room at the best rates.
CHECK RATES OF THE LAPA HOTEL WITH HOTELSCOMBINED

As I said above, we booked ours from Booking.com.

Booking.com is also a good option as they tend to have the cheapest rates for hotel rooms (based on my experience).

That said, if you want to cut to the chase, use booking.com to book your room at the Lapa Hotel.

CONCLUSION ON THE LAPA HOTEL

I firmly believe The Lapa Hotel Hua Hin is one of the best boutique hotels in Hua Hin. I love the fact its just beside a world class shopping mall, and that it has large comfortable rooms and bedding.

I also favor the swimming pool and the friendly staff but do hope the breakfast offerings could be improve.

Nonetheless, if I do return to Hua Hin, I may consider staying at the Holiday Inn Hua Hin instead as it provides complimentary access to the Vana Nava Water Park.

My daughter loves it there, so the daily complimentary access to the Vana Nava Water Park would be great. Blog on the Vana Nava Water Park is coming soon, so do come back to my blog soon!
