Hicon Ice Maker

Have you heard of the Hicon Ice Maker ? I had just knew there’s mini ice makers like what Hico‘s offering, so if you didn’t know there was such a thing, you are not alone.

My wife actually told me about the availability of the ice maker, and I wasn’t exactly thrilled about the idea in the first place.

However, since she was paying, I agreed to the buy.

Hicon Ice Maker review

Having an ice maker at home means the freezer, which is the main compartment of the fridge, can be used solely for keeping ice cream and frozen stuff.

This means there’s more room in the fridge as ice making actually takes up a lot of space.  This is basically one of the major benefits of using an ice maker to make ice.

However, when it comes to talking specifically about what the Hicon Ice Maker has to offer, that particular point might be invalid as all ice makers would likely do the same.

So, if I’m talkig specifically about the Hicon Ice Maker, then I’d say that it looks very modern and fits really nicely at home.  It isn’t huge, and it is not heavy to move around.

The buttons are easy to use and press, and it makes about 10 cubes of ice within 6 – 8 minutes.

The sizes of the ice cubes are adjustable, so I can either make big ice cubes, or small ones.

Aside from that, I really liked how it is very quiet when in operation and can auto stop when the ice container is full.

Maintenance is also pretty straight forward, with Hicon recommending it is cleaned every month.

Problems with the Hicon Ice Maker

The Hicon Ice Maker is however not without its problems.

One of the biggest issues I had was the fact that this ice maker was specifically made for China. This mean its instructions and manual were all in Chinese.

I don’t read Chinese, so I had to find the manual in English.

I had to search online for the English manual, but in case you are looking the English version, I’ve attached it here.

Other than that, there’s not many things to complain about.

Where to buy

I do not know if you can find this particular ice maker in normal brick and mortar shops in Kuching.

I got mine online for RM348, without shipping. Shipping depends on location and the type of service you’d want to use as your courier service, which in turn affects cost.

Anyway, for those looking to buy this particular ice maker, the links below will help you find it easier on both Lazada and Shopee.

Conclusion

I think the ice maker has helped my household get ice on a regular basis without needing to fill up the freezer.

Personally, I do feel that it is one of the best purchase we had ever made before.

That said, I highly recommend buying the ice maker.
