CCTV’s are a necessity these days and that’s why I bought the Yi Outdoor Camera 1080P.
This is my second venture into installing a CCTV for my home because the first CCTVs I installed constantly got disconnected and were unreliable.
The Yi Outdoor Camera 1080P was more expensive but there were many rave reviews about it so I decided to give it a try.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
The Yi Outdoor Camera 1080P comes with the camera itself, the camera base, a USB adapter, manual, clips, mounting screws, a tiny screwdriver and wall anchor.
The camera itself promises a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 that is equipped with a 110 degrees wide angle lens.
There’s a built-un mic/speaker in the camera and the camera is able to capture images in night mode.
Aside from that, the camera also has an alarm for motion detection.
REVIEW OF THE YI OUTDOOR CAMERA 1080P
One thing many people don’t pay attention to when they buy a wireless CCTV such as the Yi Outdoor Camera 1080P is the apps.
I was one of them and soon realized how important the apps would be in using the wireless CCTV camera.
You see, a poor app would mean accessing the CCTV feed would be difficult. In addition to that, it would be also hard to update the camera hardware. Worst still, some apps aren’t made in English, so setting up the whole system would be troublesome.
That said, it is fortunate that the Yi Outdoor Camera 1080P app is in English, and that setting up is also easy.
In fact, the use of the app is pretty easy as well.
The camera feed from the CCTV itself is crisp and clear, and the live view is also very fast with just a second of delay.
The downsides of the CCTV is that you will need to rent the cloud storage if you intend to have your CCTV recording saved securely. This service is optional, but it would be great if it would be provided free. For those not wanting to rent the cloud storage, inserting a 32GB microSD memory card into the camera would save any recordings although this is less secure.
Another thing I didn’t like about the CCTV was the USB cable. The generous 3m cable can be annoying because it can be too short, or too long.
Overall, the camera does what it says perfectly and I have no other complaints than the two I mentioned above.
WHERE TO BUY THE YI OUTDOOR CAMERA
Buying the CCTV online is the cheapest way to get your hands on the CCTV. I bought mine from Lazada after carefully reviewing all the packages.
I paid RM249.00 for the CCTV, excluding postage.
If you prefer shopping in Shopee, then there’s also a similar package.
You can also buy the same CCTV from AliExpress as well if you are reading this from outside of Malaysia.
